ISO 24712 8601 Information Technology Interchange

This International Standard provides a set of test pages that are in a common format for files that can be used to test results of cartridges using the colour toner as well as colour ink. This test suite was not intended to print photos. It's purpose is to display a variety of pages that are typical for consumers. The process for using the pages is described in ISO/IEC 19798 and ISO/IEC 24711.
IEC (the International Electrotechnical Commission) along with ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) are the two bodies that comprise the international standardization system. The members of IEC and ISO can participate in the creation of International Standards by joining technical committees. Each technical committee is accountable to address specific areas of technical work. In areas of mutual concern, the ISO and IEC Technical Committees work in tandem. This work is also carried out by other international organizations, government and non-governmental which are in close contact with ISO/IEC. ISO/IEC JTC 1 - Joint technical committee for information technology. International Standards are developed according to ISO/IEC Directives.
Part 2. The main function of the technical committee conjoint is to prepare International Standards.

The joint technical committee adopts draft International Standards which are then distributed to national organizations. Publication of an International Standard is subject to approval by at minimum 75 percent of the national bodies that cast a ballot. Some elements may be patentable. IEC and ISO are not responsible for the identification of any or all patent rights. Joint Technical Committee ISO/IEC JTC1 created ISO/IEC 24712. This second edition replaces and cancels the original edition (ISO/IEC 24712:2006).

The International Standard defines colour test pages that measure office equipment consumable yield. The test page collection includes four pages that are of "customer" type and one page for diagnosing the time of the ink/toner's life. These pages can be used for electro-photographic, inkjet printers and multi-function devices that have a digital printing path, i.e. A digital printer that's all-in one for electro-photography.

The International Standard contains a set test pages in the common file formatthat can be used to test consumable yield. These pages can be used in accordance with ISO/IEC 19788 as well as ISO/IEC 2371 procedures. These pages could be used to represent a portion of the documents used in both the office and at home. They are not intended for special applications like printing photos. 2 Normative refers to These referenced documents are vital to the application. See Information technology - Representations for information interchange for details.

For references with a date that are dated, the referenced edition will be the reference. For undated documents that are not dated, the most current edition (including any amendments) of the text referenced applies. ISO/IEC798, Method to determine the yield of toner cartridges for colour printers.
